Important! - Town Upkeep Changes

I’ve decided to experiment with my Towny upkeep options. I have changed the town system to function on a plot-based system. Your Town upkeep is now calculated simply by your number of plots x 25 Sil.

This means for some that you may see your upkeep cost drop. For others, it may raise substantially. So double-check your upkeep values, please.

I will NOT be dropping the costs.

If your town upkeep is too high (alien) then unclaim some land or add a tax.

The entire point is owning a ton of land should NOT be trivial. Clearly the upkeep rate for having 30 town members was not high enough, since you didn’t even have to consider a real tax. That’s not how it’s supposed to work.

Most people saw their upkeep cost drop because they don’t own that may plots. Some saw it rise. Alienopolis is so unreasonably huge that I really can’t sympathize that your upkeep went through the roof. But I will supplement your Town bank for a while until you can figure out what you want to do about it.

That’rs right Alien…GET RID OF YOUR STUFF MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

He added what I consider to be a reasonable tax for his town size.

Well if your whole point of adding this upkeep system was to make surv more difficult, its not working at all. Its far more easier to sustain a tiny one person town now and its especially annoying when that one person only has to pay about 25 sil for a whole town. The only people who are finding surv more difficult are the owners of large towns such as alienopolis and romania.

I would like to support alien in this, as, due to sky high prices, for a town barely able to sustain itself, i was forced to remake my town.

i do have a suggestion though, how about that we do a combo of both old, and new upkeeps ( if possible)

like, below 10 people, we have a fixed upkeep based on pop, and after that, we have upkeep based on plots ( albeit, at a much less amount, as, the price for upkeep now, definately makes me reconsider even expanding my town beyon 3 people)

This is exactly what I plan, and what I have stated I have planned on the server. Unfortunately there simply is not support for it yet in Towny. I have submitted the suggestion via their ticket system, and that’s all I can do. Feel free to find said ticket and throw support behind it, because that’s what will likely get it changed.

My ticket for support for this hybrid system has been accepted by the Towny devs and will hopefully be implemented soon.
