As some of you know, the server (and particularly maps) will be undergoing significant changes in the transition to 1.3.1. I will probaby kill off museum_sky and museum_surv. The current world and surv will take their place. World will be regenerated to function as the new ‘Strict Creative’ which will have a strict ruleset regarding construction there, as outlined in a separate thread. Survival will be expanding. Surv and Svcity will be linked by nether portal. Each world will have its own nether (also linked by portal). The End will still be classic-only. To get to the nether you must dig to the bottom layers of the world. It’s not a perfect transition, you may not have fine control of where you end up unless you clear a good space in the nether. Inventories are not linked between the two world types, but everything else is. City inventories and ‘vanilla’ inventories stay in their own worlds. As such there will be different shops with different material prices. However, Towns will be linked in both worlds as will be your money.
I really don’t like the idea of needing to dig down to get to the nether. I thought the Svcity portal at spawn was enough and nether portals should stay nether portals. I guess I just need to see how digging down works but to me it sounds like it won’t work very well.
Im Interested in the digging down I think it is more realistic but will there be at least a layer or netherrack at the top because I’m just picturing finding like a diamond and mining it to find your over a huge lava lake and it falls right in. will there be a notification of being close to the nether? And will ghasts be able to spawn up top because the worlds will be combined?
I’ve grown rather partial to vanilla Minecraft. Though I do have to admit that some plugins are just really awesome (mcmmo for example). Oh well. I’m still really excited for the new survival. Best of luck on getting everything to work Sil. See you all soon!
I went on the updated server. I tried to go to the creative world, but it said it was unsafe so I typed /mvconfirm but I don’t have permission. So… I went to survival to see if it was transfered. It was but when I typed /mvtp world_trial, I couldn’t because I didn’t have permission. I know there was a portal to trial in the city world, but I can’t get there because the nether isn’t linked to it anymore. Now I’m stuck.
